mkal.dev is a portmanteau of my name, Michael James Kalyan. It's short so it's easy to type/remember, and its meaning is purely nominal so I don't pigeonhole myself into any one topic.
I'm old-fashioned: I'm not monetizing anything or monitoring anyone. This is a simple site designed for you to get to know a bit about me and perhaps learn something. No AI, no ads, no SEO, no affiliate links, no bullshit, just me.
Big shoutout to Protesilaos Stavrou! The CSS for this site utilizes the colours from his Modus Themes: Modus Operandi by default and Modus Vivendi if you've set your browser to a dark theme (I recommend light mode/Modus Operandi for maximum legibility). Also, I personally use Prot's Aporetic fonts which means this site is designed with an Iosevka-based font such as Aporetic Sans in mind (not that it should really matter). On principle, I won't instruct your browser to fetch any fonts that you don't already have, so use whichever you like!
