Let's do some business!(Hopefully you have received my card)

Hire Me

…as an electrician

I am currently a period 1 registered apprentice electrician in Edmonton. I finished my period 1 schooling with a special report for exceptional performance from NAIT and now I'm looking for a sponsor. Could that be you? Contact me if you're interested.

I have recently pivoted from my software development career to become an electrician. Why? In the software world I had found it difficult to get paid to do things that were both interesting and well-aligned with my value system. So I figured, I'm passionate about quality housing and city design, why not spend my effort improving my city? Learning a trade is my way in to the industry, and the technical aspect of electrical work should play nicely with my existing skillset.

Of course, I still love programming and will continue to do so—but my professional efforts have been refocused!

…as a programmer

While I am committed to learning a trade, I'll gladly write code for the right project. In particular I'm interested in working on FOSS, especially Scheme/Lisp-based projects such as the ones you might find at The Spritely Institute. That does limit the available jobs I'd be willing to take quite a bit, but on the off chance I'm someone you need, feel free to reach out.

I'd also be happy to provide personal coaching on setting up and personalizing your very own GNU/Linux system (with a particular focus on the GNU Guix system, but any distro of your choice). I can help with installation and configuration of desktop environments, development environments, and/or servers. Again, maybe not something many individuals are interested in paying for, but if you're one them, give me a shout!
